I ran a sub-30 minute 5k the other day.  But I didn’t have proof.  I could reason out how I broke that barrier.  But proof speaks louder than words.  Here’s my story.

In this episode, I talk about:

  • Visualization  is key to achieving my goals
  • Timelines and Action term dreams into goals
  • Did I finally get proof of my sub-30 minute 5k run?

Transcript:

Good Morning, everyone. Welcome to the Path to 1 Million. This is going to be episode 164. I just completed my five K and my goal for today was to actually provide proof that I ran a five K in under 30 minutes. And what I wanted to talk to you guys about real quick before I talk about that is two concepts that have really helped me out in life. And one of them is visualization and the other is a timeline. So I know a lot of people out there really kind of poopoo visualization. They’re like, Oh, you know, it’s just wishful thinking. It’s just wishful thinking. But the thing is with visualization is that it can be very powerful simply because of the fact that if you could see it in your mind and then take action, then you will achieve it.

You know, they always say, you got to have a goal. You got to have something that you worked so work for. So for me today, when I was running, the only thing that I saw in my mind was that finished little screenshot that I will post on Facebook that says 29 29 minutes and 30 seconds. I visualized that. I focused on that and any single time, like some problem popped up, I just said, you know what, I’m going to keep focused on that. So today it’s ridiculously windy outside, a lot with lot more windy than it was the other day, windy year, if I could speak English properly. So when I got to the halfway point and I turned around, it was a wall of air that was just hitting me and all I could see was the sand on the beach. Oh, was blowing across the path.

And as soon as I saw it, I was like, man, it’s going to hit me right in the eyes. And it did. And so for that part of the track there, I literally ran with my eyes closed and when I closed my eyes, all I could think about was that little image that I’m going to put on Facebook that says, you know, 29 minutes and 30 seconds. That’s all I did is I cut my eyes closed. And I focused on that. And the second thing is, is that I was talking about was the addition of a timeline. And I think for a lot of people out there, when they set a goal, like for instance, I want to make $100,000 or $200,000 or I want to do this, you have to put a timeline on whatever it is that your objective or your goal is.

Right? So for me today, it was one in the same, I could visualize that little image in my head, but also the time I wanted to make sure that when my foot hit that 3.1 mile mark that I was ahead of where I needed to be so I could get that screenshot right. So having that timeline, having that date, like, Hey, I’m going to achieve, you know, I want, you know, 2019 I want to make $100,000 or two 2020, I’m gonna make $100,000, whatever that number is, whatever that goal is, stay focused on that timeline because when you do your body and your mind is capable of doing some pretty amazing things. And today when I was out there, my legs were cramping up, my knees were hurting cause it was like really cold. It was like 50 degrees when I got here and did my run this morning.

I warmed up at all, but I ran it anyways. So I just wanted to share those two bits with you. So with regards to actually running the five K and under 30 minutes, yes, I did. Yesterday I came out here and I actually, I walked the track, I’ll show you guys to track here. So I actually walked the track and the 3.1 mark is like way over there. So anyways, I measured it out yesterday. I walked in and I had my phone and I timed it and I knew exactly where 3.1 was. And so when today when I made it to that point, I pulled out my phone and it just clicked over to 3.1 and I stopped it. So as far as the time goes I ran it in 28 minutes and 57 seconds. So I beat my initial score, you know, staying focused on that 29:30 and just kept running, had that timeline in mind. Boom. I blew it away. So anyways, I got a screenshot of that. I’ll be posting it a little bit later, but I wanted to share that with you guys. So visualize timeline, two very important concepts. Anyways, just wanting to show that real quick with you guys. I hope you are having a phenomenal Wednesday and I will be back again tomorrow with another story. I’ll see you guys then have a great day.
